Mónica Riveiro (Gijón, 1971). At the age of 18, I attended a black and white photography course and I was hooked by the magic of seeing how the image on paper, previously exposed under the enlarger, emerges in the developer tray.
After the initiation course I continue experimenting with black and white photography, taking images of the Asturian landscape and attending specialized courses in black and white laboratory, system of zones, composition and portraiture.
After several years, my interest in color photography of nature and high mountain landscapes arose, having for this purpose two settings of great beauty and environmental importance: Las Sierras de Gredos and Guadarrama.
In the year 2000 I jumped to professional studio photography and social events.
Nowadays I feel a great interest in black and white urban photography, both for its landscape and the people. It is an inexhaustible source of stories, emotions, shadows, silhouettes and contrasts. I approach this subject from different photographic techniques. Lately... I just... got carried away.
